Hi, I presume that by the 1.3jtd you are refering to the 1.3 multijet turbo diesel? I purchased a new Doblo family 7-seater with the 1.3 multijet 5 days ago. So far I am very pleased with both the vehicle and the engine. Beforehand, I thought long and hard about the pro's and cons of this engine relative to the 1.9jtd.

The BVM 5 still supports the 1.4 95 hp unit. A 6-speed mechanical gearbox comes with the 1.4 T-Jet 120 hp, 1.6 Multijet 90 hp and 2.0 Multijet 1.5 hp units. The Gearbox Doblo 1.6 Multijet 105 hp is also a BVM6. For this third generation, Fiat offers the optional 5-speed Dualogic automatic transmission for the 1.6 Multijet 90 bhp engine.
4. Mar 17, 2009. #1. Our 04 plate 1.3 multijet turbo diesel has suddenly developed a turbo whine (not slippings belts). It is a low mileage car (35,000 miles). All the intake pipes appear to be in place, as I have given them a quick tug.
So I've been driving a 2006 Fiat Punto Grande 1.3 Multijet given to me as my first car by a family friend. It's done about 180k+ miles and has been a good workhorse. However in the last 6 months it's been low on power; I've managed to get it running better by using higher revs on lower gears, and doing engine restarts after it warms up a bit

The vanes block with carbon because the turbo is not used enough. I was told to use egr cleaner but did not work . I had a lot of trouble with my wife fiat panda, going limp mode and losing power on acceleration. So now the car is fantastic and did not cause problems for engine. –
134.000, dealer maintained tensioner went and destroyed the top end but i have had a lot of warantry issues,fuel pump,clutch, ive now had a new engine fitted and after 21,000 miles this is giving problems. fiat stopped production of this engine in early 2008 for two months to address quality issues!

Normally, the 12V she-plug is been disconnected when you switch the ignition off. In order to keep it connected permanently you can bridge the concerning relais. You can easily find out which one that is by switching the wipers on and pulling one relais after the other. When the wipers stop you found the right one.

I replaced with new one and problem was sorted but its very difficult to start now, takes about 10 cranks to start.

If you feel the turbo sounds different ask your mechanic to inspect it for damage to the vanes on the impeller or if there is excessive movement in the bearing of the turbo.
