Necro topic I know but I just got the game yesterday and this is the first thread that pops up. While the cave you're referring to MAY be a story related mission (some mushroom mission a villager gives you) this isn't the case for all of them.

Near the village. I was so happy though .) I completely upgraded my quiver from the story quest to climb the mountain and get rare feathers. Shoot down the eagles that attack you for regular feathers, and the ones from the story are the last needed for a fully upgraded quiver. I can now carry almost 50 arrows.
