KTM has announced new versions of its 1290 Super Adventure R and 1290 Super Adventure S for 2022. This isn’t just a Bold New Graphics update (although the bikes do get that, along with new bodywork!)—KTM has revised the engine, the chassis and the electronics for the incoming models, which should arrive at dealerships soon.
The 1290 sits at the top of KTM's Adventure line-up as the firm’s new flagship travel model ahead of the existing 1190 Adventure and the also new-for-2015 1050 Adventure. It’s got the 1301cc V-twin engine from KTM's lunatic 1290 Super Duke R but has a new crankshaft, cylinder heads and revised mapping to bring power down from 180hp to 160hp.
